No Man’s Sky was a game that changed the way gamers looked at the industry forever. The project is now infamous for promising the world and failing miserably to deliver on those promises. The hype for the game reached epic proportions, and by the time the game released virtually everyone was starting to get a little sceptical about how the final product would turn out. Needless to say, most were bitterly disappointed.
Today there is another game, promising about as much as No Man’s Sky, and gamers have become a great deal more cynical than perhaps they once were. That game is Star Citizen, a game that has been in development for many years. Will Star Citizen turn out to be another No Man’s Sky, or could it be the ultimate game that everyone has been waiting for – and be as enjoyable as the blackjack online Canada has to offer?
What Is Star Citizen?
As with No Man’s Sky, Star Citizen promises an enormous play area, consisting of stars, planets, space stations, and much, much more. The player is able to fly a spaceship, dock it with a space station, or travel down to a planet and land on the planet’s surface. Of course, once on the planet, the player is able to exit the ship, and walk around in first person mode.
Yes, No Man’s Sky did deliver on this promise, and it seems that likewise Star Citizen will be doing the same. No limits, no restrictions, simply an enormous virtual universe to explore freely. The biggest difference between No Man’s Sky and Star Citizen is that Star Citizen is mainly marketed as an MMO. Meaning that up to a hundred other players will share the online universe, engaging in cooperative play, or even space piracy.
In other words; if Star Citizen delivers on its promises, it will be a game that no one will forget any time soon.
Why The Scepticism?
Star Citizen is already being clouded with doubt from gamers, who suspect that the game will not be everything that has been promised. This is not only because the game has already been in development for five years, but because of the overhanging disappointment of No Man’s Sky. Of course, Star Citizen development is transparent, open to let gamers try out parts of the game already made, and constantly updating fans on progress.
Which is to say, No man’s Sky purposefully shrouded itself in mystery, and the developers of Star Citizen are doing everything in their power to be open to gamers
Already Impressive
How the final product of Star Citizen turns out will, obviously, be an event for a future article. It should not be overlooked, however, that the current builds of the game open to players is already extremely impressive.
If the finished game is a more polished and fleshed out version of the builds already, Star Citizen will perhaps be the ultimate PC game it has set out to be. When the official release will be is still very much known, and that will keep waiting gamers frowning.
