The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Right Concealed Carry Belly Band Holster

Belly band holsters are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to conceal carry while staying active. They’re ambidextrous and fit a wide range of pistols and revolvers.

However, a few things could be improved to use this type of holster. One is that they don’t wick away sweat, which can cause your firearm to rust if you wear it in hot weather.

Comfort

Belly band holsters are one of the most comfortable concealed carry methods. They’re made of stretchy material that conforms to your waist, so they don’t require belt loops or clips. Belly bands are an excellent choice for exercise and activities like jogging because they allow you to conceal your firearm while wearing light workout clothes.

Another pro is that they provide excellent trigger coverage, which helps to prevent the muzzle from accidentally firing while adjusting the gun in the holster. Some concealed carry belly band holsters feature a pocket on the side for extra storage, like a spare magazine or a cell phone.

However, some belly bands don’t offer a secure fit, which can be uncomfortable for people with large stomachs or those who frequently carry in different locations. A secure holster should have a retention strap that securely holds the gun in place and shouldn’t creep up or down. Also, belly bands aren’t suitable for carrying in hot weather because they can get sweaty under the gun pocket.

Concealment

There are many benefits to using a belly band holster. They offer better concealment than traditional hip holsters, are often more comfortable, and can be worn with different types of clothing.

They can be worn above the belt line, under the belly, or even around the small back, giving them great versatility in concealed carry. They are also very lightweight, making them easy to wear for long periods without noticing it.

While belly bands are an excellent option for concealed carry, they are not without drawing issues. Because they fit tight around the waist, they can take longer to draw from than a traditional holster. This is especially true if the firearm has a large muzzle or a full-size pistol. Practice your draw to reduce this time if possible. It’s also essential to always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and to check for clearance before drawing.

Convenience

A holster belly band offers a simple solution for carrying your concealed firearm with the added benefit of storage. Typically made of a soft, breathable material that can adapt to multiple sizes, these bands provide a snug fit around the waist, a gun pocket, and sometimes other pockets for self-protection items like pepper spray or a light-bearing cross-draw.

Some bands come with Kydex or other material inserts designed to fit specific handguns for better retention and trigger coverage. With these extra features, you can ensure your weapon is safe and secure inside the holster pocket.

Of course, you still need to keep your concealed carry holster within reach in case an emergency or threat arises. While some people prefer the comfort of a belly band, others may find it constricting or irritating during long periods of physical activity. For this reason, consider wearing a concealment belt instead.

Safety

Concealed carry can be a tricky proposition. It’s a new way of carrying that will take time to get used to, and most will go through trial and error to find the best method for them.

Belly bands are an excellent option for those seeking an easy-to-use concealed carry solution. They are designed to fit most gun sizes and secure them with a Velcro safety strap or Kydex’s natural retention.

They are also very flexible in how they can be worn. They can be worn low around the hips or on the appendix, at your waist, or higher in the mid-section. They are also very comfortable to wear thanks to the moisture-wicking neoprene and slide protection tab that keeps your weapon from pinching against the skin when you draw it. This can make a big difference when it comes to comfort. Practice accessing your weapon from this position before using it in a real-life emergency to ensure you can do so quickly and confidently.
