Why are traditional Greek diets so healthy?

Thomas Forster December 29, 2023 Reviews Leave a Comment

The traditional Greek diet, often referred to as the Mediterranean diet, is considered healthy for many reasons. It has been associated with health benefits and is often credited for the relatively low rates of disease in Mediterranean countries.

Rich in fruit and vegetables and high in olive oil

The diet places a strong emphasis on fruits and vegetables which are associated with a reduced risk of chronic diseases.

Olive oil too is a staple in the diet and is a primary source of dietary fat. It contains monounsaturated fats, which are considered heart-healthy. Olive oil is also rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Lean protein and whole grains

The diet includes lean protein such as fish, poultry and nuts. Fish, in particular, is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health.

Whole grains, such as wholewheat bread, are commonly eaten, and they provide fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Here are five recipes from a Greek nutritionist.

What is Golden Visa Greece?

Some people enjoy the Greek way of life so much that they make the decision to move there. This can be achieved through a scheme that allows non-European Union citizens to obtain Greek residency for five years by making qualifying investments in the country. You can invest in the Greek property market, with a minimum amount of 250,000.

Successful applicants and their families then receive a residence permit that allows them to live in Greece. If you want more information on Golden Visa Greece, legal professionals, including georgakilawfirm.com/services/golden-visa-programs, are on hand to offer guidance and support.

Moderate red wine consumption

Moderate consumption of red wine, often enjoyed with meals, has been associated with health benefits, including a reduced risk of heart disease. It’s important to note that moderation is key.
