Preparing the Workplace for Risks and Accidents
When we go to work, we assume that we will be safe and well looked after by our employer. Gone are the days when being killed doing your job was a fact of life, however, this is something that still happens from time to time – after all nothing is risk free, life itself carries risks all the time.
What is important nowadays however, is that we recognise the risks and do our best to mitigate them. This doesn’t mean literally doing nothing, but in a workplace for example, it is important for the employer to notice what might cause a danger and put procedures in place to prevent this.
Fire is one of the best examples of this – it can strike anywhere and at any time and is certainly a killer. This is why we spend so much time and money on things like smoke alarms, fire blankets and fire extinguishers. All workplaces should have a fire procedure in case a fire were to break out, so that people know what to do and how to be safe in this instance.
Something else that we run the risk of at work is an accident or a health problem. Many health problems can be managed, but some can be undetected, and of course accidents happen, so making sure that there are trained staff who have attended clinical training courses like these Tidal Training courses, as well as a fully stocked first aid kit available is something that we can do to prepare for this.
