Drive Type

Whether you’re considering an overhead or a side mount system, there are a few key choices. The belt and chain drive options are probably your safest bet. These systems have been in use for decades and are reliable. Compared to a side mount opener, an overhead unit is better suited for heavier doors and higher ceilings. If your commercial garage door needs expert care, you can engage a commercial garage door repair specialist.

One of the perks of owning an overhead garage door is the ability to open and close your door with a single hand. The overhead lift is the most obvious component, but you can install a screw-driven opener if you’re in the market for a new garage door.

Force Settings

Choosing the correct force setting for your overhead garage door is smart. Not only do these settings keep your garage door operating smoothly and reliably, but they also provide added security and protection. A properly balanced commercial garage door can be opened with less than 15 pounds of force.

Torsion Springs

Choosing the right torsion springs for an overhead garage door is important. These springs are designed to endure heavy use and help to open and close the garage door. There are two main types of torsion springs: oil-tempered and zinc-galvanized. Choosing an oil-tempered spring will reduce wear and tear and increase the door’s life.

Torsion springs are not attached to the track, making them much safer to use. They are also quieter than extension springs. These springs are also easy to maintain. They can be easily replaced, and they last longer than standard springs.

If you are replacing your springs, choose an oil-tempered one. They are affordable and will keep the energy stored in the spring longer than zinc galvanized springs. This will make your garage door last longer.

Warranty

Having a garage door warranty is a great way to protect your investment. The warranty will cover the normal wear and tear that comes with owning a garage door and will also cover commercial garage door repairs or replacements of damaged sections of your garage door.

There are several different warranties that manufacturers offer. Some offer standard coverage, while others offer more specialized warranties. It is important to read your warranty carefully and understand what it covers.

Most warranties offer a standard warranty of one year for the materials used in your door installation. The manufacturer also offers a one-year warranty on the labor involved in installing your door.
