What types of call buttons are there?
Call buttons are a fantastic means of instant, low-tech communication, particularly useful in care and health settings. But what types of call buttons exist? Let’s take a closer look.
Bedside call buttons
These are the most common type of call bell button and they are often found integrated into bed rails for easy access or placed on walls by the bed or chair. These call buttons are usually large and easy to press, and they may have extra features and functions on the control panel.
Pull cord bathrooms
A pull cord call button is very useful in a bathroom or any area of the home where the user might struggle to reach for a wall-mounted button. They are commonly added in residential settings where a fall might occur, and in rooms generally where residents or patients need extra support. These are found widely in care homes  and nursing settings, for example.
Wireless call buttons
These call buttons are incredibly flexible, and they’re great for any environment that cannot support wiring. They are also ideal for wearing on the go and can be found as wristbands or on neck lanyards. Wireless call buttons can be worn by older adults or anyone with a medical issue, or by medical and care staff who may need to signal for extra help in an emergency.
Emergency call buttons
These tend to be brightly coloured or clearly labeled so that they are easy to find quickly and in a critical situation. They are usually found in healthcare settings.
